Todoist’s Mac App Gets Update for Apple’s OS X Yosemite

Quick Add, a Today Widget, Share Extensions and more...

Today, we’re excited to announce that Todoist’s popular Mac app is getting a major update to become optimized for Apple’s new OS X Yosemite, the most recent release Apple has made to their operating system for Mac computers. Todoist’s Mac app will also now be compatible with OS X 10.8+. Here’s a list of the awesome new features that we’re announcing for this new version:

Quick Add (OS X 10.8+)

With this update, you’ll be able to add a task from anywhere on your computer. When you click the Todoist icon in your Mac status bar (or press ⌘ + Shift + A) a little pop-up will appear that’ll allow you to add a task and select the project, due date, reminders, label suggestions, and add notes. Easy peasy :)

Local Notifications (OS X 10.8+)

Now, you’ll always receive notifications on your Mac desktop screen and will be able to respond to shared notifications directly from within the pop-up message. For example, you’ll get pinged when someone invites you to a project, or when a colleague adds a comment to a shared task thread– you can reply quickly, then and there!

Today Widget (OS X 10.10+)

The new Today Widget on Todoist for Mac will show all of your tasks due ‘Today’ as well as overdue tasks (it’s similar to the Today Widget recently released for iOS). From the Today Widget, you can mark your tasks as complete.

Share Extension (OS X 10.10+)

Another extension? You got it! Now you’ll be able to add any website as a Todoist task. Just open Safari, and when you click the “Share” button you’ll see the option to “Add to Todoist.” It will automatically add the title of the website and the URL to the content of the task. This is great for doing research and saving interesting articles to read later.

Text to Task (OS X 10.8+)

Any time you select text– from anywhere: a website, a PDF, email, file, Word doc, etc., you’ll have the option to convert the text into a Todoist task. Just select the text, and tap with two fingers to get the drop-down menu. From there, click “Services” and “Add to Todoist.” It’s that easy!
